The character Walter White from the television show Breaking Bad finally gives his wife the real answer to his decision of cooking crystal methamphetamine saying I did it for myself I liked it I was good at it It made me feel alive Walter is a middle-class American with a decent home and loving family he is a moral-abiding man He never breaks any laws until after he finds out about his lung cancer From the start of the show the audience is meant to believe Walter begins his illegal adventure for the sake of raising money for his family and eventual cancer treatments But faith is lost when Walter makes bad decisions that should impact him more he should quit his endeavors and realize he is not helping his family to a better life In the last moments of Walters life in the final episode there is no doubt that Walter would do it all again with the same outcome For Walters family it would be more beneficial if Walter would remain a high school chemistry teacher and struggle with cancer treatments On the other hand it is more beneficial to Walter to produce drugs to feel alive and powerful As a nation of people everyone should strive to be as Walters family is hard working loving and all-around moral Conversely the individual should be as Walter is happyWalters story contradicts Aristotles belief that happiness requires morality Although Walter is a fictional character the idea of feeling alive or a rush after doing something illegal is seen in countless cases This is not to say everyone should become a drug dealer or shop lift it is to say the individual willing and capable of providing himself with happiness should act and achieve that happiness My advice to the individual is to do whatever makes him happy regardless of morality and law this can be said with no hesitation because although it sounds like a
