The scene I chose is the scene where Tom Weylin Whips Dana I chose thissituation because I feel this was a major event in the book Besides thethings that happened with Rufus it was the first major incident Danahad to deal with Even though it wasnt the last it definitely provedthat there was more to comeDuring this scene Dana is enduring a gruesome whipping from Tom WeylinEnraged beyond limit Tom rushes into the cookhouse and drags Dana outOn the outside Tom Weylin proceeds to crack his bull whip across Danasback as she describes the horrific beating I never saw where the whipcame from never even saw the first blow coming But it came like a hotiron across my back burning into my light shirt searing my skinDana eventually screamed until she fainted returning home withoutKevinMy feelings about the actions that takes place in this scene issomewhat of a neutral feeling Im not totally for or against it but ina sense I can relate to this situation There are many determiningfactors that makes me feel the way I do about this scene including thefact that Dana tried her best to avoid this type of situation I admirethe fact that Dana trys her best to help the children learn but thenagain I dont agree with what she did Dana deliberately challenged TomWeylin in a non-violent manner and in the end faced the unforgivingmagnitudes of the whipA particular situation that evoked similar emotions within myself woulddefinitely have to be when I was younger Id say around 5th or 6thgrade I had quit doing work all together and tried to be aself-proclaimed Class Clown Me being a smart kid I definitely madea mistake that I could have easily avoided My mother is BIG oneducation and she doesnt play when it comes to school Making a choiceto stop doing work and lying to my mother about my grades was anundeviating trial of my mothers authorityId never forget this I got
