According to statistics about 5000 women a year die from honour killings and a vast amount of these killings take place in in Muslim communities Honour killings are usually taken place because a family member has dishonoured or put shame to the family name Majority of the victims of honour killing are female some married and some as young as the age of 12 Some communities actively believe in honour killings because they think it is a religious obligation These communities fail to treat men and women equally therefore allowing men to have more rights and privileges while able to disrespect and kill women Additionally due to the fact of the change in environment and lack of laws in these countries violent acts are usually disregarded due to cultural beliefs gender based inequality and ignorance to violence against women There are many women all over the world who are currently dedicating their lives as slaves to men Educating many individuals on this issue will help raise awareness and potentially decrease the amount of victims of these murdersHonour killing is originally a Baluch and Pastton tribal practice but over the years it has increased in Islamic communities Honour killings are a tradition where families try to reestablish their name and honour by killing a family member or members who put a stain upon their family name These types of murders are not a recent act of violence it has been taking place for over centuries and all over the world Taking a look at many history books female figures are always portrayed as being a mans asset or property In ancient Rome when a woman had been raped it was thought that her life had been destroyed and their families would actively participate in killing the female as an act of mercifulness In todays society in most countries women are now treated more equally However there are still many countries that
