Throughout the years Ive had many enticing reads but when asked which book has held the most emotional allure I immediately recollect a simple story Beauty by Nancy Butcher Though this book is discreet in nature when analyzed it becomes so emotionally provocative that one cannot walk away without some sort of newfound knowledge The book is set in the fantasy Kingdom of Ran Though not extravagant in the way things are done it is the setting that is unreal The central character is a young princess Tatiana Anatolia Although Ana is the center of the book her mother is the one running the show Queen Veda is a sinister woman to say the least She appears to be a blessing to the less fortunate and leads with a spotless reputation to any outsider but inside castle walls she is no more than a narcissistic tyrant It is known amongst the servants that she poisoned her own husband many years ago when Ana was only a baby As Ana grew so did her mothers vain competitive behavior Her greed for beauty turned them both into monsters The queen began to loathe her daughter for her ever increasing beauty Ana wanted only to obtain her mothers approval She tried to make herself ugly but not just ugly so undesirable that she would never have to worry about out shining her mother She confined her self to her bedroom she deprived herself of all beauty treatments Her only objective was to be clean When she went out she wore bulky unflattering dresses in dark unappealing colorsOne day the mother devises an evil plan to erase her daughter from the problem all together The queen invites her daughter up to her room and explains that she is welcome to attend an academy for fine-cultured young women and tells her that if she wishes to go she must leave immediately Ana who would normally have been pleased to even
