Analyze two of the films we have seen in regards to Holocaustrepresentation discussing how they represent history and other aspectsyou find important The films The Boy in he Striped Pyjamas and The Pianist portraythe holocaust in a very interesting ways their differences in contextare reduced to a similitude in their representation of the holocaustBoth of the movies are recent 2000s and they are based on textsThe Pianist Memoir and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Novel The Pianist is a film based on the story of Wadysaw Szpilman Theother is a historical drama film based of the novel written by JohnBoyne Even though both stories represent different settings a Germanfamily living outside a concentration camp and a Varsovian Jew tryingto safe his life from the Nazi regime they have similarities on tryingto show the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime The Boy in theStriped Pyjamas attempts to show the horrors of the Nazi concentrationcamps through the eyes of two 8 years old boys The Pianistillustrates the testimony of Szpilman on his struggle to survive theGerman invasion of Poland in 1940 The first element of comparison between the two movies is theuncertainty of the situation The Szpilman family had to listen tothe radio and to read the newspaper in order to trace what was happeningwith polish Jews before the war Moreover even when the Szpilman werein the ghetto they were totally isolated from the brutal destiny thatawaited them Similar to the polish Jews Bruno was also surrounded bymystery when he emigrated to the nearing of the concentration camp Hekept asking to his family about the farms where the people werewearing striped pyjamas The uncertainty illustrates both the JewsSzpilman inability to understand the brutal future that awaited themand the Germans shame to unhide the cruel truth from their families andkids Not even Shmuel knew that he was going to the gassing chamber whenthe Jews were forced to undress So even in the camp things were hardto figure
