The two images I chose were The New York Times Magazine Islam and theBomb and also the Lou Reed image because both interested megreatly The Islam and the Bomb along with the Lou Reed designhelp introduce a certain topic and also give a message to the viewer Ithink the best part of these two images is that they use text to forminto an image or onto an imageIslam and the Bomb is an example of Typography because it useslettering and the placement of those letters to create the focal pointfor the whole design The focal point which is the bomb can be cutvertically to show symmetry and balance The text is aligned to show theuse of gestalt by applying closer which causes the eyes to connect theinvisible lines created by the text to make the bomb design Theartist of The New York Times Magazine Islam and the Bombsuccessfully uses the white space to create depth and help the eyesfocus more on the bomb which is the center of attention For the LouReed design repetition of the text and lines in the design creates aunity throughout the image There is a slight gradation of dark blue tolight blue on the mans face creating a more interesting look Theartist used concentration with this design by creating certain arrowsand lines to help lead the eyes to certain parts of the image Anotherelement the artist used was hierarchy using contrast between the darkletters against the light face and the white letters against the blackbackground One concept application the creator of the Lou Reedimage used was typography The letters help lead the eyes all around theimage while keeping the viewers attentionThe New York Times Magazine Islam and the Bomb and the Lou Reeddesigns both have very obvious similarities and differences Forinstance both images use type as an important element in the designHowever Islam and the Bomb uses the type to form an image unlikethe Lou Reed design which uses the
