Reality TV is a genre of television where regular people are put into unexpected humorous situations and their emotions and behavior are recorded This type of programming is unscripted and relies on true events from everyday life Sometimes it is in the form of talent shows or contests where winners are awarded a prize According to The Week a professional media source from the UK author Nigel Horne has compiled a fairly biased effective list of pros and cons of reality TV This magazine source entitled Pros and cons of reality TV shows was discussed persuasively and in detail as if to allow being able to choose a side the reader is most comfortable with The first observation the reader makes about this biased persuasive source is the format it has been written in The first half contains arguments for reality TV while the last half holds arguments against In addition the authors diction makes it clear to the reader which side is which making the source effective in conveying its message He uses words like Arguments For and Arguments Against Horne For example Horne states one pro of reality TV Its why many intelligent people find themselves hooked by Big Brother and others they teach us something about human nature and broaden our experience Horne People believe that reality TV is harmless fun and that is why they find it entertaining Hornes extremely serious tone on the topic overall is present in his statements For example If we believe in freedom and free speech then we have to accept reality TV as an expression of popular and democratic taste and Reality TV is vulgar and shoddy Horne By reading the source one can tell the author states the pros and cons of reality TV as if he was listing a set of rules one had to follow Though his logical appeal was to address both sides of the topic he appears to be more
