As Abraham Lincoln said in his famous Gettysburg Address And that government of the people by the people for the people shall not perish from the earth A democratic government needs to be molded to fit its people not the other way around In the Declaration of Independence we as citizens are afforded three basic rights Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness Our founding fathers knew this thus giving us the Constitution with all of its guidelines to allocate us these rights and a working democratic government system Yet somehow somewhere in our countries history we have managed to completely disregard our core beliefs for the good of society Our democratic government has forsaken our right to life by legalizing abortion taken away our liberty by attempting to limit our gun rights and procuring a Congress who doesnt know what the bills they are passing mean and our right to the pursuit of happiness by not allowing marriage equality Thus I believe the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are still very relevant to todays society but the ways in which they have been interpreted is the true issue However these documents are not flawless they require various revisions in order to fit into todays society For instance we no longer have problems with slavery voting equality or the kingTo begin lets look at the right to life as of now it is legal to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy According to the Declaration all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights Unalienable rights are rights incapable of being taken away from or given away by the possessor Yet our government sees it fit for an unborn childs rights to not be considered Though the child isnt out on its own with the conscious ability to make decisions for itself that doesnt make it any less of a citizen In order for said child to
