What are advertisements According to some they are a plan nuisance and they do not want to watch TV simply because of advertisement Some see advertisement as a way to keep up with the lastest trends and fashions some see them as a means of humor One question that can be raised is commercials going too far Do they send the wrong message to youth and young adolescents Do we really even understand whats going on in the commercials These are the issues I plan to address in this paper The commercial I want to address is Doritos commercial during the super bowl last year This commercial was hilarious but at the same time it sent the wrong message to many young children This commercial contained a young mother her boyfriend and her son who looked to be about four years old The boyfriend walked in and was admiring the beauty of the little boys mother out loud He went to reach for the little boys bowl of Doritos The little boy reaches as far back as his little arms can reach and slaps fire from the mothers boyfriends mouth The little boy goes on to tell him that he does not play about his mom or his Doritos The mother yells from another room be nice What message is this commercial sending The audience it targets is anybody from the age of five to adolescents This commercial is also targeting anyone who has ever eaten a Doritos chip Why this group of people some may ask the main reason is because they know children like junk food They know that these children force their parents to buy them this food They also know that children dont stay children forever they eventually grow up and they will be buying the snacks for either themselves or their family This commercial contained a little hint about disrespecting your elders In the era that
