In the beginning of the 21st century life is fast and everything is on the go with no time to stop Our lifestyles have become a non stop race against time but this mentality has not only spread from travel but also to schooling The educational system these days is great for information but fails at having students understand Being a student for nearly a lifetime gives opportunities to really get the scoop on how well schools are doing and it seems that they arent quite up to parHigh school is a great place to go if a person wants to get a ton of general information on a topic Math for example provides a barrage of knowledge in few days In my experience math has gone something like this Monday we learned factoring Wednesday we were taught synthetic division and Friday was law of cosines Its been two weeks since we touched factoring and now we have a test over all of it Students are given all this information every single day then they never speak of it again and have to take a test on it Even if they study for the test they wont really remember it because they had to do it once or twice In most cases people dont retain things that was briefly shown to them Also students are forced to take classes to graduate high school Emerson wrote in Self-Reliance no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him Then later he said none but he knows what that is which he can do nor does he know until he has tried Emerson reassures the point that students can only get inspiration and true understanding if it is in their plot of ground Often when people are interested with something say video games they will play it and learn about it They will
