Gay marriage a topic touched by few and evaded by most still it shouldnt be a topic that we avoid any longer as public support for gay marriage increases annually by one percent as of the last two decades Rising the 2004 polls of thirty-two percent to a fifty-eight percent as of 2013 showing that not only do same-sex couples want change but so do Americans The government says every citizen of the United States shall receive equal rights still they passed the Defense of Marriage Act but how can every single American have equal right without accepting gay marriage Same-sex couples should be receiving the same benefits and be seen the same as their straight peers as there is no difference Not been seen the same may not seem like it doesnt affect them but it does as they are limited to their choices and disapproved by a big percent of the world making them feel trap in their choicesI believe marriage is between a man and a woman I am not in favor of gay marriage but when you start playing around with constitutions just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person it just seems to me thats not what Americas about Usually our constitutions expand liberties they dont contract themBarack Obama he may not acknowledge gay marriage but he understands that prohibiting two people who love each other from being together is morally wrong As the leader and face of our country you would imagine he would look at the peoples wishes and change some of the old ways to project some of our logical views The section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act had to be stroke down by the US Supreme Court as it violated the constitutions equal protection promise This shows Obamas meaning of how they play around with the constitutions just to prevent same-sex marriage not caring for the consequences in same-sex couples lives They shouldnt
