In the article A Case for the Humanities Not Made by Stanley Fish the main points in this article is the lack of emphasis on humanities in Universities The direction focus and rush on majors that can get the student quick access to jobs in the world Things such as online courses and two year certificate programs are putting all the emphasis on the short term pay-offs The lack of literature English History and other majors are not as intriguing because of the long haul that it takes for those fields of study there is a push to get students quickly through college into the work force Public relations have not done their part in telling students or explaining what humanities are and what they offerMy opinion on the article is that the lack of knowledge on the emphasis on college humanities is spot on Before reading this article I know firsthand that I had no idea of humanities and the college that I go to didnt put any significances on teaching or telling me about humanities Counselors have tried to push me in the direction in a two year certificate programs to get my in and out of college as quick as possible Being in college I have only seen or heard one person having a major in English History Literature and foreign language majors There is a definite lack of public relations telling students about humanities in fact its the other way around telling too much information about quick options and the quick pay-offs
