In the late 1500s male authors were constantly writing sonnets to keep up with the famous craze going throughout the hearts of the audience One of the legendary sonnet creators in the history of English writing is William Shakespeare His writing had its own style and individuality that kept the reader wanting more In a short period Shakespeare wrote about thirty-eight plays over 150 sonnets and his works still live on to this day The majority of Shakespeares sonnets were written between 1594 and 1597 With Shakespeare being one of the leading bards in account it is not surprising that hundreds of Shakespeare biographies have been written in all of the worlds major languages His works are frequently divided into phases moving around from comedies to histories to tragedies and then to his final phase romance In the years of 1592 through 1594 Shakespeare briefly left playwriting aside to compose lengthy poems like Venus and Adonis also some of his sonnets Shakespeare was finally renowned for his works performing his poetry sonnets plays and other work of arts for Queen Elizabeth and her successor King James But just as the rise of Shakespeares success popularity and prominence began to increase he experienced a personal tragedy when his son Hamnet died in 1596 Examples of Shakespeares thoughts and moral beliefs are expressed in many of his sonnets One illustration can be shown in sonnet 116 He discusses that true love is the meeting of the mind body and soul Not only a connection of the physical body This expresses his value of mental competence He also discusses that even if a lovers focus changes love itself does not change Love is an everlasting eternal mark in Shakespeares eyes All of his sonnets have a romantic undertone A main reason for writing his sonnets is to express his emotions regarding love and how he values genuine honest affairs of the heart Sonnet 116 also discusses that true
