Twelve years ago every time I went to bed I used to hear the most fascinating stories from my grandmother If I remember correctly she started telling us about stories when I was about seven years old and my brother was six years old My grandmother is person of strong integrity and ethics so every story that you heard from her was mostly about honesty and always doing the right thing I am very grateful to her because not only I heard really interesting stories but also because I learned a lot from them Most of the stories she used to tell were all related to Panamanian folklore The story that I liked the most was called La Liebre y la Tortuga in English it is called The Hare and the Tortoise It is very interesting because it teaches us many morals and values The story is about a turtle that challenges the rabbit to a race to see who is the fastest In the story the rabbit is making fun of the turtle because he believes that the turtle is crazy and that there is no way on earth that a turtle can win against a rabbit When the race starts the turtle is left behind and confident of winning the rabbit decides to take nap midway through the race Even thought the turtle is tired he keeps going never giving up Through the race the turtle thinks that the rabbit has already finished the race but even thought he believes the race is over he keeps going because its about giving everything you have and trying When the turtle is almost at the finishing line the rabbit wakes up from his nap however he finds himself to late to win the race that the turtle has won the race At the end of each story my grandmother used to tell me all the values and morals that can be learned from
