I started tutoring Jose when he was just 5 years old His mom had told him that he must listen and obey me if he didnt there would be consequences like not being able to play his psp like he normally does At first it seemed like a routine he would follow instructions they were able to finish all his homework and work on something he had trouble with Soon he felt more comfortable with me and this is when the problems started They started rushing to finish the homework and sometimes we didnt have enough time to finish Problems I started encountering was Jose asking inappropriate questions got easily distracted and talked about what happened in school or what somebody said he didnt understand or something he thought I would find funny To keep children on track you need to be nice and be strict with them One thing I make sure the childrens parents are involved with their childrens education Tutoring kids from ages five- to eight year olds at their homes for an hour can be easy if you know how to manage time know what to do in case of emergency If their parents step out you have to ensure that you have a number to call just in case something happens You have to create rules for parents and children as well as for yourself Some rules you may have with the children parents is to ask them that after they arrive from school to have a meal ready for their child to eat so that they have enough energy to do homework According to Karen Doll Tolliver having lunch is a positive because student will be less likely to get distracted and will be good for his healthy Many studies such as one conducted by Tufts University School of Nutrition have confirmed that students who are hungry
