Beloved by Toni Morrison highlights an ex slaves and her willingness to sacrifice what is necessary to keep her and her family away from slavery Sethe runs away from Sweet Home after the owner Mr Garner dies at that time Sethes life became abusive at the hands of School Teacher who took over managing Sweet Home when Mr Garner had died Sethe killed her baby Beloved in order to keep her and her children away from slavery Sethes sons Howard and Buglar run away a few months after Beloveds spirit had begun haunting the house 124 which brings the story to the point that Paul D returns to Sethes life approximately nine years after Beloveds death Beloved returns as a reincarnation in Sethes life as an older female which brings jealousy upon Denver Sethes younger daughter over Paul D and Beloved for creating space between her and her mother Denver set about in disliking Beloved after liking her for a brief time period because Sethe talks to her about things that she never told or talked about with Denver Tragedy is foreshadowed with Morrisons imagery such as writing about the fact that Denver had drank Beloveds blood as a baby when nursing before talking about the death of Beloved or saying that Beloved was deadSethes agonizing past causes much grief in her present time Morrisons narrative Beloved depicts a woman Sethe who is willing to sacrifice her own baby in order to relieve herself and her other children from slavery Sethe fights to pass or ignore what happens to her and her family As much or as hard as Sethe tries to move on it does not work as first Beloveds spirit comes to haunt 124 subsequently her reincarnation comes into her life and takes over An additional facet to which returns from Sethes past is Paul D however Paul D brings Sethe joy rather than agony Denver is left fraught when Beloved is in
