I Summary of the Book Gertrude McFuzz is a children short story in a book titled Yertle theTurtle and Other Stories written by Dr Seuss that describes a girlbird who only has one feather Her one feather makes her feel differentand not so special like the other birds The book opens up discussinghow sad Gertrude McFuzz is about her one plain feather EverydayGertrude McFuzz watched another girl bird named Lolla-Lee-Lou fly byshe had two feathers Gertrude McFuzz was very jealous of Lolla-Lee-Louso jealous that she pouted and frowned Dr Seuss 1958 One day Gertrude McFuzz could not take it anymore she wanted to be justlike Lolla-Lee-Lou She felt that it was not fair that she only had onefeather so she went to her uncle Doctor Dake for help When she toldher uncle what was bothering her he told her that is was absurd for herto feel that way and that her tail was just right for her kind of birdDr Seuss 1958 Detrude McFuzz became angry at her uncles responseand began to throw tantrums so he told her where she could find apill-berry to that grows feathers Gertrude McFuzz found the vine with berries and ate a few sheimmediately began to grow feathers She was so happy to finally havemore than one feather and decided that she was going to be prettier thanLolla-Lee-Lou She began eating more pill-berries than was necessaryand it took hours for all of her new feathers to sprout Once all offeathers had sprouted Gertrude McFuzz was so ecstatic She could notwait to fly pass Lolla-Lee-Lou and show off all of her feathers shewanted to make her jealous However her feathers weighed 90 pounds andsome were as tall as tree branches Dr Seuss 1958 She could not walkor run and she had to be carried back home It took two weeks forGertrude McFuzz to get to her destination and she plucked all of herfeathers out except the one she started
