With the staggering statistics of college drinking DUI and alcohol related deaths caused by binge drinking theres no wonder why people are dying by the thousands each year Sadly though these statistics show that the individuals who are dying of alcohol related deaths are between the ages 18-24 years of age National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism NIAAA These statistics validates the urgency of prevention strategies that must be implemented as early as middle school and high school Young adults are dying young each year from over consumption of alcohol which means politicians need to intervene by enforcing alcohol related classes in schools These classes would educate teens and young adults on the dangers of over drinking and ultimately reduce the number of alcohol related deaths each yearThe problem that is occurring among most teens and young adults when it comes to alcohol is not so much that theyre drinking but rather they are drinking irresponsibly There seems to be a bit of disconnection in the common sense factor when teens and young adults are drinking For example there was a story in facesofdrunkdrivingcom where 22 year old Sean Carter was paralyzed due to drunk driving with his friends Sean made the decision of riding as a passenger in the car of his college friend who was driving under the influence of alcohol Needless to say the driver lost control of his car and hit the passenger side of the car where Sean was sitting into a tree Sadly Seans decision that night left him paralyzed in a wheelchair and unable to speak While the driver walked away from the scene of the accident unharmed Stories like this can be very depressing but it is evident that common sense was not used before the incident Neither Sean nor the driver thought about assigning a designated driver that night Now this is not to say that there that teens and young adults are the only
