The theory that I believe is the main contributor to crime is choice theory I believe that the rational choice theory is the main cause of criminal action in the United Sates today Rational choice theory is defined as a person having a choice between committing a crime and not committing a crime To me it is defined as having a decision to commit a crime after careful consideration of the potential risk at hand weighing the good between the bad I believe that rational choice theory is the main contributor to crime today In the US today all Americans have what is called their Amendments which give us the right to choose over mostly everything in our day to day life Therefore most criminals have had a chance to choose to commit or not to commit Rational choice theory comes down to people having a disregard for the criminal justice system and the people that surround them In a situation where there is a choice of right and wrong rational choice theory doesnt always have to do with where you come from or the environment in which one was raised However statistical numbers show that more crimes happen in low income communities as compared to middle income class or upper income class communities Even when you may have a criminal justice system that is not involved with the community there are still people within the community that are not accounted for For example someone who may refuse to succumb to crime and punishment but rather finds a way out so they dont fall victim to the social disorganization theory In todays society finding an excuse for why someone committed a crime is very hard To come up with a reason to not be able to make a rational decision when it comes to choosing right from wrong is one of the toughest things to prove in court There are some cases where someone
