In 476 Rome falls thus beginning the Dark Ages also known as the Middle Ages the age of faith This period lasted over 1000 years During this event the population fell drastically and many forgot how to speak their main language Also the barbaric tribes affected the law and government making it weak Cities fell and people become scared and ignorant Everything went downhill from there Possibly the only outcome was Christianity spreading and the church attempting to help the people The main role that took place was the society religion and politicsFeudalism was the way in which society was set up It was based on honorary as the king had power overall then the lord vassals and finally the people who took up most of the population serfs The serfs helped on the farm agriculture was a boom due to the warm climate Of course that changed the climate got colder and the agricultural fields were abandoned As an old medieval saying states a land without a people for a people without a land The system slowly vanished in the 1400sReligion was very important at this time it still is Everybody believed in God Meister Eckhart stated The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me my eye and Gods eye are one eye one seeing one knowing and one love The church provided security and education Churches structure consisted of ranks of clergys A clergy is a body of officials who performed religious services such as a priest The pope led the church in Rome Bishops supervised priests they were the lowest ranking members of the clergy The common law was affected by all Christians it was the law of the church Punishment of breaking there laws took two forms of excommunication which was the formal process of banning someone from attending church and interdict which was a form of punishment for a people or
