My parents first bought me a cell phone when I turned thirteen At that time I was an eighth grader in middle school I owned a black LG VU which was touchscreen I loved it I thought I was completely cool From day one I have been attached to my cell phone by the thumb Constantly texting friends here and there it became a big part of my life My parents bought me a cellphone to allow me to communicate where I was at all times Growing up my parents were the strict type you know the type to question you where with who and why I begged them for a little understanding like privacy and trust so I suggested a cell phone It was to their benefit to always reach me wherever I was anywhere anytime However the unexpected was not expected meaning I was completely absorbed by this robot I would stay home after school rather than go out to text my friends and surf the web Their even came a time when my studies became involved The social media and texting was taking over my education Subsequently my parents handled the situation without hesitation they knew what had to be done Sadly I knew too When my parents took away the privilege of having a cell phone for 3 months I nearly drowned in tears I argued to be given a second chance but talking to my father was useless hes a stubborn man I felt disconnected from the world during these months Since then Ive built even a greater bond with my cell phone I dont lose sight of itFor my week of change I will be giving up my cell phone This will be a challenge for me because I depend on my phone a lot more than one should My phone not only allows me to stay in contact with my family and friends but gets me through
