Have you ever wondered if you or another persons behavior is how people identify you as good or evil In Kate Chopins The Awakening Robert was one of the characters that you never knew if his behavior was good or evil Robert was a dramatic and passionate man he had a history of becoming the devoted attendant to a different woman each summer at Grand Isle Robert offered his affections comically and in an over-exaggerated manner and thus is never taken seriously When someone like Robert consistently acts the same people then start to believe that he is not a truthfulgood person Was Robert a morally ambiguous character Robert was a morally ambiguous character because he would act one way in front of a group of people but when he and Edna where alone together he would truly sound like a sincere person Robert was Ednas escape from her own hurricane of emotions She was trying to escape from her everyday life Robert and she would spend time alone together and he would treat her the way that she had always wanted to be treated Then when Robert and Edna were not together he would act another way towards another woman This went on and on until Edna realized that Robert and no one else could make her happy and Robert had told her that he would not ruin her family and what she had Robert would always look out for what was best for Edna he didnt want to ruin her home life with her husband and deprive her kids of a mother He always had the best intentions He was the one that was able to bring Edna to express herself but the way he did it with his flirtations were where is was not morally correct Although notoriously ruled by his passions and impulses he nevertheless cannot forget the societal conventions that both allow and limit his actions
