Envision the perfect judge some may see an elderly white-haired man in a long black robe while others would see a smiling young woman but no matter the physical appearance we can all agree that the perfect judge would be someone who made sure both parties the accused and the accuser receive justice The promise of justice is that everyone will be treated fairly and reasonably and it is a judges job to uphold that promise without preconceptions or intolerance A good judge opens their mind to the bigger picture he or she will take into account what one side of the argument did and why they thought to do it and then separately do the same for the other side without letting the two interfere This judge will consider the unique situation both parties were in before carefully deciding if the accused had committed a crime Judges carry the heavy stamp that could label another person guilty so it is very important for them to assess all the facts in front of themAnother characteristic of a good judge is that they affirm that the punishment is fitted to the crime and do not pick punishments to please either party but rather to uphold justice This judge after deciding a guilty subject would choose the punishment that would help the guilty person understand what they had done wrong and why it was wrong the guilty person would have learned a lesson through the punishment chosen for them
