The childrens fate was horrible They were starved and they hadmedical experiments performed on them They were treated exactly likethe adults but the medical staff tried to provide them with additionalblankets clothing and medicine This means that the children were alittle better off than the adults because the staff was trying to helpthem One of the hardest parts about being in a concentration camp for thechildren was the fact that they had a chance to be selected for the gaschamber Also many of the children had medical experiments performed onthem A lot of them died from the experiments They were being treatedbadly and no one cared or seemed to notice besides the medical staffMany of them went into the hospitals because they were so sick that theywere about to die Many of the Jewish children were put to death right after they arrivedto the camp but after the shortage of people they started makingthirteen and fourteen year olds work Most of the children in theconcentration camps had some form of experiment performed on themTwenty-three point five thousand children and young people had beenregistered in the camp There were 400 thousand registered prisonersthis was made up of 216 thousand Jews 11 thousand Gypsies at least 3thousand Poles over 1 thousand Byelorussians and significant numbersof Russians Ukrainians and people of various other nationalbackgroundsThe Polish children and young people arrived in the camp in transportsof political prisoners Almost all of the young boys were murdered bylethal injection of phenol Many of the girls were killed by starvationor typhus Also many of them were selected with their mothers and sentto the gas chambers A lot of the polish children were tried forstealing food or escaping slave labor they were sentenced to death
