The Chinese people have been living in the United States for the past century but they were not known by the other races because the Chinese people are not important to them Many of them arrived with the dream of gold that have drew them to cross the Pacific Ocean to California where most settled in Los Angeles and San Francisco Over the past century Chinese populations have quadrupled which make ninety percent were adult males and ten percent females which are the cause of the unbalanced sex ratio Many of these sojourners have a hard time with persecution and scrambled to survive in a strange country The Chinese immigration have struggle a whole variety of things that affect them which some are the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 the struggle to contain naturalization the Cold War and the Model Minority The Chinese immigrant travels to the United States for better knowledge and experience but there are the governments policies and economic condition that will affect them in the United States In today societies many young adults and kids are not learning about their culture because they already adapted to the western societies There are language barrier that still continue to affect the Chinese people because the first generation group tend to have limited-English proficient and experience while the newer generations tend to adapted to speak proficient in English which allowed them not able to communicate with one another The Chinese communities tend to get better and better because they work harder to get where they wanted in life Why did the Chinese immigrants come to the United States Out of all the Chinese immigrants that came to America they come from a country in South China Many Chinese favored Gold Mountain because in order to become rich to support their own family they have to sacrifice their life in their hometown to move to a country that does not speak the language that they
