Growing up one may have heard the phrases Stay in school get good grades and work extremely hard so you can get into a great college and be wealthy and successful Youve heard it from your parents school educators your sport coach or even your neighbor as I experienced it Lets stop and take a look in the future What if your children werent able to attend college and be the successful people you would want them to be What actions would you take if you were in the situation hearing your child cannot attend college and have a chance to be successful In the year of 1982 the United States Supreme Court had ruled all children of illegal immigrants could attend kindergarten through twelve-grade education for free All that was free but with the knowing there children would not be able to further education soon after A close friend of mine by the name Jonathan Carrillo a friend and an undocumented immigrant from Mexico the right to attend college was nowhere in sight His mother was a single mother who only worked abruptly 20 hours a week if lucky 30 but at minimum wage knew she couldnt afford tuition for her son Illegal immigrants for example like my good friend Jonathan Garcia are not qualified for federal or state financial aid or government student loans For that reason my close friend has stated he has stopped caring for his education nearly coming to an end of his senor year in high school His words would always be I always knew I couldnt be able to attend college I cant go to the DMV and get my drivers license my ID nor can I get papers Jonathan began skipping classes and taking double lunch he also began acting out in class by disrespecting his teachers Since he knew his free education given in the United States was slowly coming to an end The bad
