Its a warm spring June day In Sidney Ohio when Patricia woke She didnt live at home with her mother Rose she resided with friends 5 miles from her mothers homePatricias thoughts to herself I decided to myself that today is the day I need to have a serious talk with my mother She really needs to get to know the real me that Ive hidden all my life even from me Today is the day of honesty whether people accept it or not Im going to be me Despite my fear inside I must do whats best for me Its time that my family and friends know Im gay Im a lesbian Patricia finally forces herself to get out of bed She showers and puts herself together before leaving to go to her mothers As she arrives at her mothers house she was shaking and sweating from the nervousness of telling her family Patricia knocks on the doorRose mother yells Come in Patricia walks slowly into the house As she approaches her mother in the kitchen she looks around to see if there is anyone else there Patricia asks What you doing momRose replies Just going to clean house and drink my coffee What are you out doing todayRose notices that her daughter is nervous and shaking Patricia asks Can we talk momRose Yes honey we can Are you ok Whats wrongPatricia Mom you may want to sit down for thisA sudden silence fills the room until Rose sits down Patricia Mom I understand if you cant accept what Im about to sayRose Ok spill the beansPatricias nervousness grows Her heart starts racing faster and faster feels as though its in her throat Tension grows in the room as Patricia tries to find the words to sayPatricia Mom Im GayRose Oh sissy Ive known for years Ive been waiting for this day to come Patricia Then why did you not tell me
