The community health event that I attended was about high blood pressure and ways to control ones high blood pressure This event advocates on behalf of the Asian American community who due to cultural education or financial barrier lack access to basic health care service In this event their goal was to reach out and interact with the community in hopes of providing insights of understanding and controlling high blood pressureI was very interested and intrigued by this public health event not only because it was a hot topic that is being taught in lectures but because both my parents have high blood pressure After attending the event and lectures in class I learn that high blood pressure can be extremely dangerous and life threatening because there are no physical or any presentable symptoms in the early stages of the disease nor does it affect a persons daily activities until it is too late This event was important for me because I wanted to understand the cause of high blood pressure and how one can prevent and control high blood pressure The most common origin of high blood pressure relates to diabetes but what surprised me most was that high blood pressure could also result from stressed anger or troublesome mood This was shocking for me because I am the reason behind why theyre stressed half the time I cannot even begin to imagine how stressful it is working two jobs to fund my college tuition and on top of that making sure I do well in school and graduate from St Johns In my opinion the event was very well organized and quite interesting in my opinion There were three main speakers for this event each with a different part in explaining what high blood pressure is why it is important to check ones blood pressure and how one would know if they had high blood pressure The second speaker
