Beginning after the revolutionary war and ending today the United States of America had only two major moments in its history The men that were presidents at those times were men of much similarity In the years of 1861 to 1865 America was fighting the least glorious battle for they were fighting one another and the president who was active through most of it was Abraham Lincoln Not long afterwards in 1929 the black Tuesday marked the begging of what came to be known as the great depression In 1939 the lowest point of the depression Franklin D Roosevelt came into office Although they come from different eras their battles were similar at many pointsAs the elections progressed tensions between the free and slave states grew worse and as soon as Lincoln won all hope of a peaceful solution broke as the southern states began to succeed one after another While majority of presidents start small and speed up as confidence grows Lincoln did not have that luxury he had a broken country at the verge of war on his hands Roosevelt also entered office at the worse timing He had no time to get to know his new position he had a nation that was barely alive and in great need of care in order to get it back on its feet Roosevelt had to act immediately wasting no time for every moment pulled the country into a deeper hole As one can see neither one of these men had a happy first day at work where everything was great and everyone happy These two men were greeted with the most pressing issues in the history of the countryWith one side forming a separate government and another ready to go to war Lincoln had to take immediate control of the situation His first step was to get the people on his side and to get them to see as he did Lincoln
