Having spent more than 18 years growing up in Maryland I have never officially have lived in Mississippi prior to coming to Ole Miss The times Ive spent in Mississippi were for holidays and large blocks of time in the summer attending camps and visiting relatives Intended for the purpose of this paper I will consider Maryland to being a northern state and Mississippi obviously a southern state Through my 18 years Ive had many experiences in both states and have formed various definite opinions about life itself in the north and life in the south My opinion is that life in the South is slower and more enjoyable than life in the NorthMaryland the old line State has many optimistic effects to recommend it other than weather many not be one of its better features Maryland having all four seasons of the years can be very pleasant However part of these four seasons is winter as we all know can be very bad especially in Maryland For that reason that snow can accumulate to two feet or more makes driving nearly impossible During the dead of winter roads can become iced over making driving nearly impossible Plus because Maryland is a coastal state and gets frequent heavy storms causing downpour that travels up the Chesapeake Bay Maryland weather can be unpredictable and can be highly dangerous in cold winter months Mississippi the Magnolia State by contrast has extreme weather beyond the summer heat In fact Mississippi lacks a dramatic appearance of the four seasons but it seems like a small price to pay for the lack of heavy winter snow and ice Mississippi heat is said to not be that bad once someone adjusts In a way it just becomes a normal way of life Weather is to me very important for where I am but more important than
