One of the greatest work of literature was very well known in the Western Europe is called Beowulf It is one of the traditional and very first epic that mainly occurred right after the tragedy of Rome This epic story has inspired many readers throughout the world especially in todays society Beowulf 22 In order to get readers more interested in Beowulf Hollywood Studios decided to make an animation movie which was released on November 16 2007 enwikipediaorgBeowulf Although the movie was a successful film it didnt have all the exact details from the original story There were a couple changes between the characters the scenes being put together and the outcome of the story from the movie than the epic The characters in Beowulf contain the same personality and role in both the film and epic but there were a few differences between the two For example the character named Grendel who is shown as a physically weak child-like creature that attacked the Danes in the movie rather than a scary and dangerous as expected in the epic Another character that was not very expected in the movie is the portrayal of Grendels Mother as a beautiful seductress woman who thinks Grendel as Hrothgars child and the dragon as Beowulfs child Beowulf 35 In the epics point of view she is more dangerous and not as pretty like in the movie She was mainly known as the mighty water witch who wants to avenge her son from Beowulf The most important changes the film made were the character traits of Beowulf besides showing him as the perfect character because he is the Geats strongest warrior The movie portrays him as a flawed man unlike the epic In each scene of the Beowulf epic there were also a few additional changes throughout the whole movie One of the scenes that had been edited in the movie was when Grendel attacks the Danes in the
