There are many similarities and differences between the movie The Good Son and the book Im the King of the Castle I found that most of the similarities occur within the personalities of the characters In Im the King of the Castle the main characters are a young boys named Edmund Hooper and Charles Kingshaw In The Good Son the main characters are Henry and Mark Both Kingshaw and Mark are placed in somewhere they dont want to be Mark has to stay at his uncles house while his father goes on a business trip and Kingshaw has to live with strangers because his mum works for themI noticed that Hooper and Henry have the same sort of attitude Henry always follows Mark around like Hooper does to Kingshaw To me though Henry seems more evil than Hooper Hooper was afraid of storms and he whined when he got hurt Henry however shows none of these characteristics and is shown to be evil for no reason Henry tells on Mark just like Hooper tells on Kingshaw Hooper said It was Kingshaw it was Kingshaw he pushed me in the water Henry said Mark convinced me Both Mark and Kingshaw feel as if they need to prove themselves to the antagonizing figure in this case by climbing trees or denying that they are frightenedThere are similarities in the positions the characters are put in as well Mark is locked in a room just like Kingshaw was The adults dont seem to believe Mark Throughout Im the King of the Castle Kingshaw cant get anyone to believe him either Another similarity is the large house in the middle of the woods There is also a shed In Kingshaws case the shed was where Hooper locked him in In Marks case the shed is where Henry keeps his crossbow machine and all his other things Mark and Kingshaw both only have one parent Kingshaw has
