Most children play some kind of sport when they are young It is just what parents do to try to get their child involved with other children and give them an experience to put under their belt Competitive sports are expanding and beginning kids younger and younger However in todays society children organized sports are taken much more seriously than they need to be Most sports are getting stretched to be played all year round which can be a bit too much for such young children Organized sports do not meet childrens needs just as much as they do not really help the children either Many aspects of higher level sports are stretched or are getting applied to childrens sports Even though competitive sports are not permanently lousy and may offer a lot of life lessons and values to children they are much too intense for a young child It is when the demands exceed beyond the readiness of young participants that positive aspects of sports are neglected Injuries are a factor that childrens bodies are not at all prepared for Injury is an issue that takes place in almost every sport However young childrens bodies are not made nor ready for this kind of physical contact that competitive sports carry with them Although there may be certain rules for age groups such as no full body checking in hockey until a certain age there are still many dangers that come into play Certain stipulations for specific age groups do not eliminate the chance of all injuries they can still happen Playing sports at such a young age can potentially be very dangerous and destructive to childrens well-being Thomas Tutko states I am strongly opposed to young kids playing tackle football It is not the right stage of development for them to be taught to crash into each other qtd in Statsky par 3 This says that childrens bodies are not prepared for the roughness
