Winston Churchill once said Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen There are many courageous people in our world that have made a difference such as Rosa Parks or Amelia Earhart There are also many courageous people we dont here about Courage takes many forms whether its saving a life or standing up for what you believe in In Harper Lees novel To Kill A Mockingbird we watch Atticus take on the Tom Robinson case risking his children and familys lives to help another man Then we see Mrs Dubose struggle with her morphine addiction Finally we watch Boo Radley out of the goodness in his heart save Scout and Jem All of which are different people with different lifes different social classes proving courage has many formsEvery Lawyer gets at least one case in his lifetime that effects him personally 86 and Atticuss case was to defend Tom Robinson Defending a colored folk was not common in the county of Maycomb the inhabitants of the town were racist Scout and Jem Atticuss children could possible hear ugly talk about it at school87 This bold decision to Defend Tom Robinson a colored man in a white ruled neighborhood was a very courageous act Atticus was a true man he was the same in his house as he is on the streets He knew that if he did not defend Tom he would not be able to represent this county in the legislature Before the trial Cecil Jacobs told the whole school how Scout Finchs daddy defended niggers85 Then when the kids were walking down the street Mrs Dubose told them that there father was no better than the niggers and trash he works for 117 The whole Finch family was being affected from the trial Atticus was scared and knew from the beginning that the case would not be an easy
