In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly a scientist by the name of VictorFrankenstein is desperate to create a new species of humans through hisextensive research on the physiology of the human body Victor creates anew body and makes it come to life playing the role of God in a talethat parallels creation itself through which Victor comes to understandthat not everything man creates and dreams of has good within it andthat the common man should not play God Although the novel is similarin its principles to the Genesis story it does not follow the plotexactly and the contrasts between the two can outweigh thesimilarities Frankenstein is similar to the Genesis by means that both god-likefigures create a human being God out of the overflow of his joycreates Adam in his image and breathes life into him and giving himqualities that accentuate his makers idea of perfection Genesis 1Similarly Dr Frankenstein creates the creature from the joy andaspiration that flows from his research and much like God the doctorgives his creation features that accentuate his idea of beauty throughspare body parts for corpses Shelly 32 Both figures give life to abeing through means in which are not sexual and only in which oneparty or the figures partake in with the knowledge and hopes of whatthey were doing The basic foundation of both stories are the same inwhich the similarities are found the design and creation of a being asa result of the desires of the creator However the similarities between the novel and the story really divergeafter the former point and the differences between the plot line ofboth become obviously different Frankenstein creates his monster andinstead of being enthralled by his creation he finds himself appalledand realizing the gravity of the situation he has created Shelly 34whereas God finds himself loving and caring of Adam caring for what hedoes and directing his attention and heart When God realizes that Adamneeded a human companion he was quick
