A critical incident is one which causes a person to pause and contemplate the events that have occurred to try to give them some meaning Using a critical incident as a way of reflecting involves the identification of behavior deemed to have been particularly helpful or unhelpful in a given situation Hannigan 2001 As we know citizens in society have been taught by teachers and therefore the future generation of tomorrow is determined by the teachers of today The three 3 critical incidents which have shaped my thinking about teaching consist of gender poor listening skills and class participationIn the first incidents the issue of gender student gender where I discovered children did not like working in groups of the opposite sex I have notice that in some situations placing childrens into groups of three 3 girls and one 1 boy the boy is neglected while the girls continued talking among themselves I believe I was allowing the children to cooperate and socialized with the opposite sex I soon learned that boys and girls brains function differently I was profoundly impacted by my discovery because I never thought that gender would be issues in a classroom After due analysis I believe that cooperation among gender should be educated in the classroom As an in-service teacher I intend to look at gender differently as it plays a vital role in a childs lifeIn my second incidents reflecting back I experienced poor listening skills As being quite a patient person there was always one 1 child in class that does not seem to listen and takes up time talking about something earlier explain in class In my teaching experience at Kanhai Presbyterian School I remembered after reading a story Soham kept talking asking questions and continued to disturbed the enter class I felt at that time Soham was testing my patience While I
