Anorexia an eating disorder characterized by markedly reduced appetite or total aversion to food It is a serious and dangerous disorder that takes loosing weight above and beyond normal It is a harmful addicting disease that is a tough struggle to get out of Anorexia is life-threatening and occurs most in young women and teens who start trying to loose weight and they get obsessed with their so called dieting In some cases women start to starve themselves almost till death In the article The Skinny on Fashion Week Jane Ridley from New York Daily Times discusses how the models are so skinny that they get denied for some jobs She mentions a statement that a guy named Lipton said I dont blame the fashion industry for causing eating disorders because there are so many complex reasons This statement describes her entire opinionGabe Guarente wrote the article Skinny Models Under Fire in a US Weekly column He mentions a model that had died from complications from anorexia Now designers are banning models that have a body mass of fewer than 18 Even though having an 18 body mass is considered underweight they are only 5 grams underweight Between the two articles they both agree on how anorexia is not a healthy thing in life It is a disease that is harmful to the body They both back up their arguments very well but Janes article had more opinions from others as well as having her own Gabes article was not up to par in comparisonIn Gabes article he mentions that in the backstage area they now have nutritious and healthy food Some things that have changed from the past is that they only have daytime fittings for the models so they are able to rest up and get sleep Gabe questions designers on why they do not have sizes 4 or 6 on the runway The designers only choose a 0 or a size 2
