Mechanically and chemically are two processes of digestion Who hasnt heard the familiar clich you are what you eat What you put in your body affects you in important ways I will be leading the reader through each step along the way explaining the difference in the way a body processes legume versus potato chips In my notes stated the first process of digestion chewing breaking chips into small pieces the salivary glands allow a watery liquid salvia that turn the chips into a bolus forced into the Pharynx by the tongue Then to the esophagus where peristalsis pushes chips food to the stomach The stomach works churns and mix the food that leads to further digestion of the food Which turns into a thick soupy liquid or partially digested food called chyme then into the small intestine that turns starch to glycogen The starch is short-term energy Legumes is protein are digested to amino acids which are actively into the cells if the Villi from there it goes through the blood stream On the other hand the legumes is much better because its high in protein unlike the chips its all carbohydrates to much give you diabetes The mucosal cells secrete an enzyme called peptidase which splits peptide bonds into amino acids to allow for digestion Protein digestion is completed in the small intestines Smaller particles of amino acids are absorbed into the villi and are carried away by the blood
