Port Orange Christian Church is a church of roughly 250 -300 attendants on an average Sunday morning Port Orange Christian has been around for twenty years and although it has had several struggles it has pushed through most all of them However there is one weakness at Port Orange Christian has had for all of its existence and is currently showing no sign of crawling out of There has been a lack of discipleship at Port Orange and it has shown in the growth of the congregationPort Orange Christian Church although has had some growth over the last few years the growth has seemed to plateau and has undertaken a revolving door effect There are some people that would not leave Port Orange Christian Church for anything but on the other side we get new people all the time however after a few months they seem to disappear after they have disappeared for awhile they start to show up again and this cycle continues This Cycle has been taking place for the last 7 years or so thus making the growth at Port Orange small and slow This has been something that has puzzled the leadership at the church for several years and the problem they believe is a lack of depth and connectedness There have been several attempts to fix this problem the main of these being small groups The small group program was productive for the first year but steadily declined after that The problem with the small group program was how to get the whole congregation connected to a small group The problem rested in how to get people to sign up for a group and how to make leaders of the group Some groups even got so big that it was not much of a small group but just a glorified Sunday school classOur attempt to resolve this problem is the institution of a discipleship program The vision of
