In the article Competition And Happiness by Theodore Isaac Rubinhe argues that competition brings the worst performances from peopleRubin believes that competition causes bitterness angry desire andsuspicion These negative effects obstruct individual development andpeople deny their own wants In competitions people are stimulated bytheir competitors Therefore people lose their own personalities andlive for other people instead of themselves Moreover Rubin points outthat kids are influenced by their parents competitive minds They arenot living for their own wishes but fulfilling parental desires Rubinuses his personal medical school experience to further support thatcompetition negatively affect people Without competitions students hadgood academic performances and relationships with each other Howeverstudents from America needed competitions in order to stimulatethemselves So they spread rumors kept secrets made bets and despisedother students Competitions not only their destroyed socialconnections but also hindered their relationships Also peopleconcentrate more about their competitors than themselves incompetitions Thus people forget about their own goals and keepcomparing themselves with other people Competition provides vanitiesso people lose their own values and ignore their actual needs In myopinion I disagree with Rubin that competition limit peoples abilityto lead happy and satisfying lives because a healthy competition makespeople ambitiously trying their best It can be a stimulator to promotepeople surpassing their level of abilities The competition in phone industry between Samsung and Apple hasprovided a great platform for both companies to create new technologiesthat beyond each other These two companies are more like frenemiesbecause they always advance their products based on the newesttechnologies or features that were invented by each other Therevolution of iPhone and Galaxy shows great advantages of competitionAlmost every six months new products were introduced to people Atfirst both companies simply added more functions into the phones Thenthey brought the competition into designs such as bigger screens andthinner phone bodies Finally when there were nothing can change fromthe outlooks they started to look inside of the phones The cameras andsystem responding speed from both phones
