Many dog owners say that having a dog is like having a child who will never grow up American This statement provokes different feelings among both dog owners and those who have never owned pets However those who have had the opportunity to have a dog know that this statement has some form of the truth Just like children dogs depend solely on their owners for their needs such as food medical attention water shelter exercise and companionship Nevertheless unlike children dogs will never learn how to fix breakfast or pour a drink for themselves American The objective of this paper is to compare and contrast the experience of having a dog and having children in order to ascertain whether having a dog is like having children Dog owners have constantly stated that they have a connection with their dogs that allows them to have meaningful communication and the ability to share emotions New parents say the same thing about their babies Dogs are cooperative animals they respond to certain phrases and even body language such as pointing This is probably the reason why most dog owners find themselves talking to their dogs in the same baby like manner they would their young children The basic emotions of young children and dogs are also similar For instance dogs have feelings of happiness and fear The only basic emotion that dogs are not able to exhibit is guilt Nonetheless what most people interpret as guilt is fear when dealing with a dog Teresa25 Additionally dogs also tend to miss understand fair and unfair treatment For example two dogs will continue to perform a trick they have mastered such as shaking a paw as long as they receive a treat However withdrawing the threat from one of the dogs makes the other decline to perform the trick While if a child does a chore and the child is beind repaid the child will continue to do the
