Automobiles became a world wide phenomenon beginning in the 20thcentury The effects that the automobile has had on American society areclearly evident by the changes made culturally economically andenvironmentally Imagine being able to drive yourself to work thegrocery store or to the drive in The convenience of being able totravel faster and further then some other types of transportation forexample horses made life so much more convenient for Americans Theautomobile is a truly remarkable piece of machinery and is essential inour everyday life Because of automobiles the city growth has been exceptionally highThe roads and highways have increased and because of this people inthe communities have to be very aware of their surroundings when usingthe cross walks and when driving on the highway they have to be alertto the rules of the road and obey the laws This is also importantbecause compared to their ancestors who had to just worry about slowmoving street cars this is a whole new world Then there is theconstruction of all the highways this dramatically changed peoples wayof thinking they had to interpret there surroundings one wrong moveand they could lose their life just from walking in front of a car Automobiles have affected the economy both good and bad but the factis Americans need transportation from place to place So that meanspeople are always buying and selling cars which helps the economy
