When a person hears the devastating sounding word cancer heshe will immediately think of death pain or psychological war Some would think of it as a disease that could change ones life forever Others such as people who survived and won the war on cancer would say that cancer was the best thing that could ever happen to them Unfortunately there are not many cancer patients who could share the last opinion Evidently cancer is the leading cause of death in economically developed countries and the second leading cause of death in developing countries WHO 2 For example according to the National Cancer Institute In 2012 about 577190 are expected to die on cancer and about 1638910 are expected to be diagnosed in the United States Unfortunately colon cancer is the second most common cancer death in the United States This is extremely disturbing and it increases the uncertainty of a healthy and joyful life for millions of people around the globe Not to mention are the economic challenges that the treatment of cancer brings in to the nation of the United States According to the National Institute for Health a total of 2281 billion was spent on cancer treatment in the year of 2008 3 Perhaps this high cost of treatment arises because cancer affects everyone It affects the young and old the rich and poor men women and children and it represents a tremendous burden on patients and families In fact it affects entire societies So what exactly is cancer what makes it so expensive and more importantly what makes it so destructive To answer this question one must understand the definition the origin the process and the types of cancer To begin with cancer is actually a group of many related diseases that all have to do with cells-the basic unit of all living things As clarified by the American Cancer Society Cancer is the general name for a
