Excellence is not a skill but an attitude Everybody in this room right now think internally what do these eight words mean Excellence is not a skill but an attitude To the average 12 year old in front of me you are probably immediately disagreeing with this quote being certain that in order to be excellent you need to have the most skill You my friends have a thing or two to learnWhat exactly does excellence mean Well the dictionary defines excellence as the quality of being outstanding or extremely good Individuals have their own set level of excellence Based on their surrounding circumstances or whatever the situation may be it is an abstract value that differs from person to personWhen you hear the name Michael Phelps the first thing that might come to mind is Olympic swimmer and that would be correct This 26 year old six time Olympic gold medalist has had his mindset to thrive and excel straight from the beginning I would consider this young man to be excellent at what he does Now when you hear the name Trischa Zorn the first thing that might come to mind is Who is that The born blind California native is most well known for winning 41 gold medals as a Paralympic swimmer She competed from 1980 to 2004 and attended 7 different Paralympic games I do not kid This is another example of an excellent athlete who was the best at what she did for decades If you throw Trischa Zorn and Michael Phelps in a swimming pool the probable results would be a blowout for the Baltimore Bullet In no context does that make Michael Phelps more excellent than Trischa Zorn considering to the level of which their bodies are willing to allow Being excellent doesnt come easy it takes years of hard work and determination To think for one second that the man inside the New England Patriots
