The Iranian revolution occurred when Iranians were dissatisfied with the westernized ruler of the Iranian King Mohammad Reza Shah Pahavi also referred to as the Shah This dictatorship resulted in revolutionary Iranians who wantedIran remain a cultural society A loss of identity was experienced by the downtrodden Iranians The Shah relied on the manipulation and fear as a way to lead his people Taking advantage of his leadership the Shah established a secret policeSavak to spy on his people then have others report back to him proving that he lead his country deviously The Shahs main objective while ruling was to modernize himself with the United States the west clashing with initial Muslim traditions The Shah was a selfish man who made decisions for the country based on what was in his favor Though many religious supporters of the Muslim ideals were opposed to the Shah many were in supportof his attempts to build relationships with the west Having a strong connection with the west would allow for more job opportunities for both men and women As well the Shah was in favor of gender equalities and knew the importance of education for both boys and girls As a resulthad beenIran torn in two- there were those in favor of the Shah and those against himHowever in 1977 while in exile Khomeini submissively instilled his Islamic philosophy by recording cassettes of himself talking about his religious philosophies as well as writing books to share his ideals with the rest of Iran Both these cassettes as well as books became popularized within Iran All of this much popular support allowed Khomeinis dismissal from exile and allowed back into Iran Completely different to the Shah Khomeini was beginning to change Iran forever Khomeini was a democratic leader who was a very religious man basing all decisions on the Islamic beliefs and always kept into consideration of what god has ordered to human beings Many new laws had
