A tall black dog whose hair is as dark as the midnight around him stands on the corner of a vacant street He is lost and is searching for his master but on this day there is no one around himAlone by himself he standsIt was one late night in September and I was headed my way home from an arduous day at workThe only thing keeping me awake is the dull yellow streetlights flashing me as I drove on byIt was the same mundane drive home like everyday until out of nowhere a big black shadow got into the middle of the street I stomped on my brakes stopping within a few feet of hitting what was a tall boxer who was as dark as the nightI was relived that I had not hit him and I watched him finish crossing the street where he joined another little white dog that was awaiting him on the side of the street I was just glad that those werent my dogs and I continued my way home I drove for what was two seconds and I began to think to myself What if those were my dogs Wouldnt I want someone to report them to I had if you had lost them I than quickly spun my car around and was headed in the other direction to look for the two dogs As soon as I hit the intersection I saw them by the vacant church parking lot walking around I than pulled into the parking lot and jumped of my car I quickly whistled at the two but only the white cocker spaniel ran up to me wagging his bushy white tail the huge black boxer on the other hand got closer and growled but still remained distantI kneeled down and pet the cocker spaniel to read his dog tag I than called the phone number that was on the tag hoping that he owned
