Every parent regardless of their kids feelings always does what theysee and feel is best for them sometimes it may not seem that way to thechild and sometimes the parent may not be making the best decision forthem but they are doing what they think is right In the storyCharlie-O by Cynthia Kadohata a girl named Olivia or as Charlie-Oliked to call her honey dog tells the story of her mother beingforced to marry a man Charlie-O by her mother while 8 months pregnantwith her Jump ahead to the future making Olivia an adult now and nolonger living at home and putting myself in Charlie-Os shoes andfinding this story in her diary I imagine my feelings and reactions toit would be good and possibly a bit sad but not angry because much ofwhat Olivia has written in this journal holds a good amount of truth andhonesty Taking on the personification of Charlie-O and going to visit mydaughter after discovering her journal with the short story of ourfamily but mostly pertaining to me I would feel as if I hadaccomplished my duty as a parent and spouse to the best of my abilityIt fills me with joy to know that even through times that werent soeasy for Olivia that she realized I loved her so much or as she hassaid in her diary But I think that I was always Charlie-Os favoriteand that if hed loved me less he would have spoiled me the way Isometimes felt he wanted to127 Olivia was very aware of how muchlove I had for her that she even felt as she were my favorite of my fourchildren but it pains me remember when Olivia started growing distantfrom me as she grew a little older and gravitated more towards hermother This is natural for a child to grow somewhat distant as theystart into their teen years so even though it hurt I understood andreading her journal and knowing that she sensed
