On January 10 2010 around eight pm I received a phone call from my mothers fianc Don Hello I answered His voice was full of panic and urgency as he said Get to the hospital right away I remember being confused because he just kept on repeating over and over again Chels its real bad Its so bad the ambulance is taking her away Finally he calmed down enough to explain what had happened My mother had collapsed in the hallway between her bed room and the bathroom Unconscious and not breathing she lay there on the floor After reviving her Don managed to get her up off the floor and into a chair Apparently she was able to communicate with him making the predicament seem as if it was just a bad fall but then it happened again She became unconscious once again trembling violently as if she was having a seizure The ambulance arrived there soon after and informed Don that she was suffering from a massive heart attack they needed to rush her into emergency surgery statI had just begun watching the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with my boyfriend Brent at his house in the boondocks of Gnadenhutten when I received the traumatic phone call Rushing speeding faster than a bank robber escaping from the police I drove to the hospital I could feel my veins surging in my forearms which were gripping tightly at the steering wheel I was sure that the state highway patrol was going to be around every corner ready to pull me over I would not have cared anyway In my mind I kept on telling myself that if I did get pulled over simply telling the trooper my dilemma would be enough to get out of a ticketIt took forty five minutes to arrive at Union Hospital by then my mothers heart had been too weak to sustain beating on its
