Having a Psychological disorder isnt a reason for inappropriately using funds Many people deal with psychological disorders daily the attorneys of Jesse Jackson Jr states that his excessive use of campaign funds was due to him being bipolar After years of investigation the federal government has found that Rep Jesse Jackson Jr and his wife are guilty of using campaign funds for personal use as well as filing fraudulent tax returns Riley 2013 Just speaking about Jesse Jackson Jr alone his attorneys are trying to say that he was abusing is power and using the funds because he has a psychological disorder in which they believe he should not have to serve any prison time but only given probation If this was truly an act due to him having bipolar then sure consider probation but dont assume that he should get probation In reality individuals that have a manic episode from being bipolar are aware of what they are actually doing Bipolar Disorder Research 2007 so why only offer probation With Jackson and his wife making well over 200 000 a year combined makes it hard to understand why this power couple would disappoint their supporters Greed could have played a major role in the decisions that were made by this husband and wife team Maybe it was easier to just write it off as an expense for their campaigns instead of trying to figure out what taxes would be owed Mrs Jackson chose to file taxes every year falsely by not stating all income received for her company while she was city alderman Skiba 2013 Alderman Jackson was remorseful of her actions and pleaded guilty for her tax issues only she has not admitting to being guilty of spending campaign funds even though her husband has stated that he convinced her to go along with the deception Skiba 2013 According to the
