Gender discrimination has been a hot topic for quite some time now It has evolved over the years And just like gender discrimination feminists have evolved too In the past they were extremely radical and suffered in the public image from their actions Feminists have evolved into strong willed women who know how to act properly in certain circumstances Feminists have evolved due to their change of behaviors such as reducing the rhetoric of separation speaking cooperatively with men on society and by separating cultural issues from economic issues Modern day feminists have separated themselves from the persona of being defined as a man-hater The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of a feminism is how feminists do not like men and believe that they are superior to men A very negative thought It may have been true when feminism was first coming around but modern feminists are far from it Women now a days just want gender equality and equal opportunities In Whats a Modern Girl To Do by Maureen Dowd she says Art is imitating life turning women who seek equality into selfish narcissists and objects of rejection rather than of affection Dowd is trying to say that feminists intent for equal opportunity are mistaken for women who are egomaniacs From the beginning women have always seeked equal rights and opportunities Before it was done with much hostility which was mistaken for hate towards men Modern day feminists have reduced the rhetoric for separation by not displaying their dreams for equal opportunity for man-hateWomen have started to speak more in terms of cooperative goals with men on society rather than before by being stubborn and being uncooperative as they were before I think women have now understood that by being cooperative they become more reputable and that there is highly likely that they will achieve what they are fighting for In the article The New Shades of Feminism Ginia Bellafante
